About the Organiser

The Hong Kong Institute of Value Management

Today, irrespective of different backgrounds and varied heritage, we're all living in very interesting and challenging times. Every community is facing unprecedented social functional demands with conflicts and continuous changes. The globalisation of trade and the transition to the information age is having a substantial impact on the paradigms that address these issues.

Hence we are always seeking new opportunities to develop skills for the enhancement of performance at both the individual and the organisation level. Value Management is a process widely used in other parts of the world to improve the effectiveness of resources, financial and personnel, spent on the creation of products or services. It is a process, not a technology, therefore it has the widest application in all aspects of business, including construction, manufacturing, transportation, natural resources and government services.

The Hong Kong Institute of Value Management (HKIVM) is a non-profit making organisation dedicated to the promotion of the Value Management process in Hong Kong. Our aims and objectives are stated as follow:

Aims of the HKIVM

  • To create an awareness in the community of the benefits to be derived from the application of Value Management in Hong Kong
  • To encourage the use of the Value Management process by sponsors
  • To establish and maintain standards of Value Management practice in Hong Kong
  • To contribute to the dissemination of the knowledge and skills of Value Management
  • To establish an identity for the Institute within Hong Kong and overseas
  • To encourage research and development of Value Management with particular emphasis on developing new applications of the process
  • To encourage and assist in the education of individuals and organisations in Value Management in Hong Kong
  • To establish and maintain a Code of Conduct for practitioners of Value Management in Hong Kong
  • To maintain lists of Value Management Facilitators in Hong Kong
  • To attract membership of the Institute to support these objectives

Membership

We invite professionals and managers to join our Institute for the common cause. Membership is open to individuals who have active and genuine interest in the promotion and applications of Value Management in 2 categories: Members are individuals who can demonstrate an acceptable level of knowledge and experience in the field of Value Management; Associate Members are individuals who can demonstrate interest in the objectives of HKIVM but may not have had sufficient Value Management experience to qualify as a member.
